About Samuel Schneider
I am a carpenter, programmer, and founder of CalQuira. I build practical tools and learning resources that help DIY builders and professionals make clearer timber construction decisions.
My interest in craft started early in the South Black Forest. At ten, I spent my time building treehouses with friends in the woods around Schopfheim-Entegast.
My father, an artist with a strong do-it-yourself mindset, taught me to make as much as possible with my own hands. That attitude still shapes how I work today.
After school, I trained as a carpenter and completed my apprenticeship. That was the start of the work I had wanted for years: planning, detailing, building, and learning what makes a structure practical in the real world.
A few years later, my wife and I traveled through South America and spent much of that time in volunteer work. I saw different building methods, from the heritage of the Inca in Peru to Mennonite construction in the Chaco, and that broadened both my technical view and my view of life.
In 2014, I started sharing what I had learned online. Since then, hundreds of technical articles have been published on baubeaver.de. CalQuira is the next step: turning practical timber knowledge into a toolbox that helps people move from questions to build-ready decisions.
